Fun Things We Do

Cub Scout Bike Rodeo:                                                                                                                                                    An event for all Scouts in the fall. The Scouts get to show off their bicycle riding skills and safety knowledge. This is a North Trails District event with other Packs in our area.

Fall Pack Weekend Camping Trip:
Every fall our Pack heads north to Metamora for a weekend in the woods at a Boy Scout campground. We sleep in cabins with hot food. Highlights include archery, BB gun target practice, hiking, fishing, campfires (with s’mores), and other outdoor activities.

Operation Can-Do:
This is a food drive for the needy in the metro Detroit area. The Boy Scouts of America and many other charitable organizations participate.  Our Pack will canvas local neighborhoods to collect canned goods for this event. This helps build a sense of goodwill and unity while having a bit of fun with the boys.

Pack 1049 Scouts Proudly Displaying Pinewood Derby Cars

Pinewood Derby:
This is the classic model car race where Scouts (with the help of parents) build a miniature racecar to compete against other Scouts in the Pack. The fastest cars from our Pack go on to race other Detroit area Packs at the District Pinewood Finals. All Scouts are recognized for not only the fastest cars, but also the best paintjob, best design, and overall effort at the Den level.

Winter Klondike:
A half-day of competitive fun centered around outdoor activities and outdoor skills such as knot tying, fire building and other safety-related activities. This event is held in January at Beverly Park.

Raingutter Regatta:
This beginning of summer activity involves a model sailboat constructed by Scouts (and parents) which the boys then “race” by blowing in the sail causing the boat to race down a length of raingutter. This is great (if wet) fun for all the boys and we also coordinate a “non-sanctioned” raingutter race in the Bingham Farms Fun Fare.

Pack 1049 Scouts At Tigers Game!

Scout Day at Comerica Park:
….to see the Tigers play!  Cub Scouts also get to walk around the field and see Comerica Park up close.
Summer Day/Twilight Camp: This is a series of coordinated activities where both Scouts and parents can have fun for a week during the summer. Camp usually is at Beverly Park during the day or evening hours. Parent volunteers coordinate planned activities for participating Scouts.

Summer Camp:
Summertime means Summer Camp at a Boy Scout-sponsored camp. Camp typically is a half week in July and the Scouts swim, fish, work on crafts, learn “hands-on” about nature, earn a whittlin’ chip, and just plain HAVE FUN!  This year there are two camps: one for Tigers through Jr. Webelos, and another for Sr. Webelos.

And more….
There are many other events and activities which occur at the Pack level and the Den level. Come talk to us and find out more!!
